Northumberland Sea Fisheries

Welcome to The Northumberland Sea Fisheries Committee

The Committee exists to regulate, manage and enhance those sea fisheries (except the salmon and trout fisheries which are the responsibility of the Environment Agency) within the Committee's district in a manner which will ensure sustainability and protect the marine environment.

The Northumberland Sea Fisheries District comprises (in brief summary): The sea within the national waters of the United Kingdom adjacent to England out to six miles from the baselines (the coast) and between the northern boundary true east of the county of Northumberland, and (on the south) at the southern end of the entrance to the River Tyne at a line drawn true east from the lighthouse at the south pier. (see "About Us" for a full description of the limits of the district).
